Save Time by Automatically Enforcing Run Group Maximums

Date

October 2, 2013 by Stacy King

To be able to cap specific groups... you must first have specific groups to cap

soldout

Many events have limitations on how many cars can be in any one run group (HPDE, PDX, etc). Instead of keeping a constant watch on who's registering for what, organizers can set up the registration form to enforce limits automatically.

Date

October 23, 2013 by Jennifer Ghidinelli

carolwongThe VCMC Motorsport Club was one of the first Canadian clubs to use MotorsportReg.com, even before we built Canadian dollar functionality. Based out of Vancouver, BC, they have a strong and growing program with a very holistic view on how to nurture people into passionate, competitive drivers.

Carol Wong has been involved with VCMC for the last 12 years. She started out as a novice autocrosser and later joined the executive team as the Treasurer. She’s recently started doing lapping days and is now in her first year of club racing and endurance road racing. When she’s not volunteering for VCMC, she works as a software developer. We recently chatted with her about what it takes to run awesome events.

A: By using the custom venue function creatively!

While most events on MotorsportReg.com take place at a specific location (at a track, in the parking lot of a particular business, even an abandoned airport), there are more and more events that don't have a specific location.

Election_Results_Example

Does running your annual election take a lot of effort?  It doesn't have to.

Say goodbye to the snail mail ballots and data entry and use our automated Elections tool. This easy to-use-feature is free to our Premium-plan customers. The setup is simple and since many of your members already have accounts with us, it'll be easy for them to cast their vote.

Here are just a few of the benefits of running automated elections:

  • Accurate – eliminate data entry errors
  • Timely – automatic tabulation; know your results the minute the election closes
  • Anonymous – results can be viewed in aggregate, but individual votes remain private
  • Cost-Effective – eliminates printing and postage expense (one organization saved $3,000 in their first year!)
  • Controlled Access – optionally verifies memberships if you only want to allow current members to vote
  • Multi-Purpose – collects member email addresses for results dissemination (or other important organizational information) using the built-in email blaster

Americans Not Into Driving Anymore?

Date

September 6, 2013 by Jennifer Ghidinelli

driving-events

Last week we read an interesting article from the Associated Press that suggests that according to the latest stats from the Federal Highway Administration, American's love affair with cars is over.

Can this really be true?  Here are the stats:

  • After rising for decades, the collective miles people drive peaked in August 2007
  • During the "Great Recession" the collective miles driven dropped sharply and has plateaued ever since
  • Vehicle miles traveled during the first half of 2013 were down slightly, continuing the trend
  • Average miles per individual peaked in July 2004 at just over 900 miles per month
  • By July 2012, the average miles per individual declined 9% to 820 miles per month
  • Percentage of people in their teens, 20s and 30s with driver's licenses has been dropping significantly

So what exactly is going on here? Here's what the researchers say.
