Pole Position- Midwest Cafe Racing Association

Date

October 5, 2016 by Jennifer Ghidinelli

Midwest Cafe Racing Association (MCRA) was one of the first motorcycle clubs to start using MotorsportReg, so what better club to feature for our first motorcycle Pole Position blog! I learned that some things are universal between all motorsport clubs (the accomplishment you feel sharing your passion with a newcomer) and some things have a much more significant impact for motorcycle clubs (weather!).

josh_davis.jpgMCRA runs motorcycle track days and racing events in the Midwest area and caters to every level of rider. They offer inexpensive "Test the Track" sessions to help riders experience the track in a safe and controlled manner while also having fun. And their MCRA Challenge Series is keeping motorcycle racing alive and strong in St. Louis and the Midwest.

Josh Davis has been with the club for about four seasons. He's experienced everything MCRA has to offer. As a customer, he participated in track days, went through the race licensing program, and raced the GT-AM class. He's been on the board of directors for roughly two years (Treasurer) and this season was asked to help coach new riders. He shared with us his passion for his sport and his club.

Behind the scenes @ the SCCA June Sprints

Date

July 27, 2016 by Dan Broughan

june-sprints-intro.jpg

The Summer of 1956 was the first full season of racing at Road America, and it included the Chicago Region SCCA June Sprints on the 23rd and 24th of June. My dad was younger than my 3 year old son, landing on the moon was considered science fiction and a young Mario Andretti had just emigrated to the United States the year previous. A lot has happened since then both on and off the track, but as mentioned on junesprints.comthe WeatherTech® Chicago Region SCCA June Sprints® remains and it’s 61st running makes it possibly the longest consecutively held road race in America.

Last week we rolled out a refresh to our national events calendar making it even easier to find events. We see a lot of emails and social media announcements from organizations telling their attendees to go "register for the event on MotorsportReg" without providing the event-specific link.

How to promote your events in forums

Date

November 1, 2016 by Jennifer Ghidinelli

We all know that good promotion is one of the keys to running successful events. And just having your events listed on the MotorsportReg calendar is a great place to start. But that's not enough if you want to break even, make money, or sell out your event.

We've previously blogged about how much time motorsport enthusiasts (and your potential attendees) are spending in forums. It's A LOT! And that's why it's a great place to promote your events. It's a pretty simple process and doesn't take any special skills- just your time. Follow our 5 easy steps below and be on your way to finding some new attendees.

The Cost of Renting Race Tracks Around the World

Date

April 28, 2017 by Brian Ghidinelli

What goes into the cost of organizing an HPDE, track day or race event on a road course? Many things, of course, but the largest fee is the track surface itself. It requires many experts to prepare, lay and maintain the specially formulated asphalt that resists high lateral G forces and somebody has to pay for it. That person is the event organizer, and by proxy, their participants. Today we're going to peek behind the curtain at the cost of road course rentals around the world.

Offering a Text/Phone Hotline on Your Terms

Date

February 18, 2016 by Brian Ghidinelli

kimi-texting.jpg

Remember when clubs used to publicize telephone hotlines as a way of keeping members informed? Dial it up and get a voice recording of the latest news. Wondering if that event was still on due to weather? Call up the hotline and hear a short recording left by the event registrar before heading out. Web and email all but replaced hotlines, but let's not throw away the phone just yet. There's a way you can have your hotline without giving up your privacy or sanity.
