Vehicle Questions have received an upgrade!

Here at Hagerty MSR we see many different types of events. All of them (with just a few exceptions) have two things in common: tires and a motor. What goes around those tires and motor varies greatly depending on the organization, the discipline, the event, and the vehicle.

To account for this, we collect a wide range of vehicle details using default system vehicle questions. We also give you the ability to add custom vehicle questions to ensure you are collecting all of the details that matter most to your organization. For example, karting groups may want to collect chassis manufacturers, vintage racers could want former FIA logbook numbers, autocross groups want to log modification points for indexed classes, club racing groups want to track club-assigned classes, and motorcycle groups may want to track swingarm brands.  Custom vehicle questions allow you to collect all the vehicle-specific details you want for your organization or event.

To create custom vehicle questions for your organization, begin on the "Settings" screen, and locate the "Vehicle Questions" option. From here you'll see the "Create Some Now" prompt.

There are several different answer types available. You can also choose to make the question visible to specific member types and even enforce whether it’s required to be answered or not.

Once created, custom questions will be displayed to your attendees below any of the default system vehicle questions.

But didn't we say that vehicle questions had received an upgrade?? Ah, yes - here it is: You can now hide any of the system default vehicle questions that aren't relevant for your organization! Don’t know what a GCR page # is? Hide that sucker! Don’t need engine displacement? Hide it! You have the power, so feel free to go into your settings and toggle away at those defaults until everything is juuuust right!

One important word of warning with these vehicle questions: any changes made to these settings will be account wide, meaning all events under your account will show/hide whatever questions you select here. This could be an issue that you'll want to be aware of if your organization runs multiple event types which require different vehicle information to be collected. For example, if you run a car race and a concours, you may want to collect "Engine Displacement" for the race, but not for the concours. In this instance you would want to leave this question toggled to "Show" to ensure your race collects all of the necessary information. Many of the system default vehicle questions also have validation rules which can be used to make questions required for some attendees and optional for others as necessary.

We hope this feature update to the vehicle questions make for a more driver/rider friendly experience for your organization and events.  If you need any assistance with these vehicle questions or validation rules, feel free to contact our support team at support@motorsportreg.com as we're always happy to help.
